Tomato Saar Tomato Soup Maharashtra By Vahchef Vahrehvah.com

Tomato soup from Maharashtra called as tomato saar. This saar is very famous in Maharashtra. It is little variation to the tomato soup. It reminds of Tomato Rasam. I usually make it as a alternative to Dal. Most of the Maharashtrian weddings or similar functions, tomato saar is served with Pulav or Masale bhat. It is very comforting to drink a bowl of tomato saar in winter.IngredientsDirections4 number (red) tomatoes 14 tsp asafoetida to taste chopped coriander leaves 1 tsp cumin seeds 4-5 number curry leaves 2-3 clove garlic 2-3 tsp ghee 1 oz ginger 3-4 number green chilies to taste salt 1 tsp sugar 1 tsp turmeric powder 1. Boil tomatoes till soft. (Microwave is useful for this)2. Remove the shells and purée tomatoes in a grinder. 3. Add water to this purée as per the desired consistency. Also add salt and sugar and let it boil over medium heat.4. Make a paste of green chilies, garlic and ginger.5. Now, heat another small pan. Add 2-3 tsp ghee. When the ghee is heated, add cumin seeds, asafoetida, turmeric powder , curry leaves and chili-ginger-garlic paste. This is 'tempering' (also called phodni in Marathi) for the saar.6. When tomato purée starts boiling, pour the hot tempering over it. Stir well and simmer for 5 minutes.Garnish with lots of coriander leaves and serve hot with rice.you can find detailed recipes at my website and also find many videos with recipes athttp:www.vahrehvah.com simple easy and quick recipes and videos of Indian Pakistani and Asian Oriental foods "Reach vahrehvah at - Website - http:www.vahrehvah.comYoutube - http:www.youtube.comsubscription_center?add_user=vahchefFacebook - https:www.facebook.comVahChef.SanjayThummaTwitter - https:twitter.comvahrehvahGoogle Plus - https:plus.google.comu0b116066497483672434459Flickr Photo - http:www.flickr.comphotos23301754@N03Linkedin - http:lnkd.innq25sWPicasa Photos- http:picasaweb.google.com118141140815684791742Stumleupon http:www.stumbleupon.comstumblervahrehvah Tumblr http:vahrehvah.tumblr.comBlogger - http:vahrehvah.blogspot.in"
