Tomatoes give it a lovely red tinge whereas onions and garlic impart an enticing aroma. I've blended this soup to give it a nice creamy texture without actually adding cream! it's a great soup, which fills you up before the meal so that you do not binge on other high-calorie foods.Add your private note Preparation Time: 10 minutes Cooking Time: 20 minutes Serves 6112 tbsp finely chopped garlic (lehsun) 12 cup masoor dal (split red lentil) , washed and drained 34 cup chopped tomatoes 2 tsp oil 12 cup thinly sliced onions 12 tsp chilli powder salt to taste 2 tsp lemon juice1. Heat the oil in a pressure cooker, add the garlic and sauté on a medium flame for a few seconds. 2. Add the onions and sauté on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes. 3. Add the tomatoes and chilli powder,mix well and cook on a medium flame for 1 to 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally. 4. Add the masoor dal, salt and 2 cups of water, mix well and pressure cook for 3 whistles. 5. Allow the steam to escape before opening the lid. Keep aside to cool. 6. Once cooled, blend in a mixer to a smooth purée. 7. Transfer the purée into a deep non-stick pan, add 2 cups of water, mix well and cook on a medium flame for 2 to 3 minutes, while stirring occasionally. 8. Add the lemon juice, mix well.Serve hot.

Serve them hot with any subzi or dal of your choice.Preparation Time: 5 minutes Cooking Time: 20 minutes Makes 10 naansIngredients 1 cup plain flour (maida) 12 tsp dry yeast 12 tsp sugar 1 tbsp fresh curds (dahi) 1 tbsp melted ghee salt to taste 5 tsp black sesame seeds (kala til) plain flour (maida) for rolling butter for brushingMethod 1. Combine the yeast, sugar and 5 tbsp of lukewarm water in a bowl and cover and keep aside for 5 to 7 minutes. 2. Combine the plain flour, yeast-sugar mixture, curds, melted ghee and salt and in a bowl and knead into a soft dough, using enough lukewarm water until it is smooth. 3. Cover the dough with a lid or wet muslin cloth and allow it prove till it increases in volume slightly (approx. 30 minutes). 4. Divide the dough into 10 equal portions. 5. Press a portion of the dough flat on a rolling board and sprinkle ½ tsp of black sesame seeds over it. Roll out into an oblong of 125 mm. (5") using a little plain flour. 6. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and place the naan over it with the sesame seeds side facing downwards. 7. Cook it on one side till it puffs slightly and then turn over. 8. Cook it on the other side till it puffs a little and then roast it on an open flame till it turns golden brown from both the sides. 9. Repeat the steps 5 to 8 to make 9 more naans. 10. Brush each naan with a little butter and serve immediately.
