In this video I first talk about Hedgehog Leatherworks' pricing since many people feel it's too expensive (I don't!), and I then go on to make myself a Hedgehog style sheath for my SOG Desert Dagger. The first bit is blurry sorry, I filmed it on my iPhone and it just didn't focus properly! It was too long to do again. The two songs are 'Slow Burn' and 'Whisky on the Mississippi' by Kevin MacLeod and are royalty free to use from his website:http:incompetech.commcroyalty-freeindex.html?genre=BluesFor my site see:www.ianatkinson.netleather

There is also information on there about shops as well as a gallery of my work and other info. This video has been re-uploaded with some or all of the audio removed to avoid problems with dishonest companies making unfounded copyright claims. This Old West style clip point bowie with jigged bone handle belongs to me and I made this cowboyfrontier style leather sheath to go with it.This sheath uses a Sam Browne stud and a 'frog' as was popular on this type of sheath. This allows the sheath to be hung from the belt or the frog can be removed so it can be slipped inside the belt or trousers on its own.The sheath has a limited edition California state quater featuring John Muir inlaid into it as well as some vintage mockodile. I picked up the quarter on holiday in California in 2005 and I love Yosemite so it's a nice reminder of the park for me.

Making a Spoon Knife from an old car spring.

My website is http:www.bucklehurstleather.co.ukSafety first - Bolt down your grinder - mine is not because its pathetic....but bolt yours down to be safe and please do not take my working methods as safe practice - I cannot be held responsible for your accidents!Making a special spoon bowl carving tool from an old car spring using blacksmithing and tool making techniques. My website: www.bucklehurstleather.co.ukIn this film I show you how to make a very useful and effective spoon bowl hollowing knife, that can also be used for rounding off the bottom of pole lathed wooden bowls and plates. I have used an old car spring as the source of good tool steel for this project, and in the film I take you through the blacksmithing techniques, and the tool hardening and tempering using a gas torch. Finally I give a short demonstration of the tool in use, so that you can see how effective it is. I hope you enjoy this film that was shot on location in a woodland, and back at my workshop.

Etching Damascus knife blades

For this webisode we are etching 3 damascus knife blades and 4 clips. These are made from Swedish Damasteel, a very high quality steel that I really enjoy working with. The video shows the process we used to mask off the important areas, what acids we used, and how we did it. We started out using Ferric Chloride, but for this steel I didn't like it at all. We've used Muriatic Acid in the past with great results, but we settled on using Sulfuric Acid, aka battery acid. 14:36 has the best shot of the finished blades, they look incredible!
