Solo Five Day Hunting Bushcraft

This is a documentary style video covering four of the five days I spent hunting, foraging and practicing buhscraft skills in some woodland by the coastline. For a rough guide on the gear I used - https:www.youtube.comwatch?v=uFsFbRO-n9EThe neck knife was a gift from a knife maker called 'Patrick' and his channel name is 'The Northern Summit' - he makes knives to order and the one i used was a skinning blade. The large blade knife that I use is called an 'ESEE 6'The boots are 'Jack Pyke Tundra Waterproof Boots' they are very water resistant but died shortly after this trip (lasted six months) I would not recommend them. The Ivy all around me is not Poison Ivy, its Common English Ivy. Thanks for watching, Mike

Making a Hedgehog Leatherworks style sheath and Discussing the Price o...

http:ianatkinson.netleathervideos.htmIf you have found the collection of leatherwork videos helpful and would like to send me a small donation there are details on how you can do so as well as info on the videos in the link above! There is also information on there about shops as well as a gallery of my work and other info. In this video I first talk about Hedgehog Leatherworks' pricing since many people feel it's too expensive (I don't!), and I then go on to make myself a Hedgehog style sheath for my SOG Desert Dagger. The first bit is blurry sorry, I filmed it on my iPhone and it just didn't focus properly! It was too long to do again. The two songs are 'Slow Burn' and 'Whisky on the Mississippi' by Kevin MacLeod and are royalty free to use from his website:http:incompetech.commcroyalty-freeindex.html?genre=BluesFor my site see:www.ianatkinson.netleather

Making a Leather EDC Pouch for a Leatherman Wave, bits and extras

http:ianatkinson.netleathervideos.htmIf you have found the collection of leatherwork videos helpful and would like to send me a small donation there are details on how you can do so as well as info on the videos in the link above! There is also information on there about shops as well as a gallery of my work and other info. This video has been re-uploaded with some or all of the audio removed to avoid problems with dishonest companies making unfounded copyright claims. In this video I am making a pouch for a Leatherman Wave, a set of Leatherman bits, a Fisher Space Pen and a Fenix E05 torch. It also has a snap off belt loop to allow it to go on and off the belt easily. The idea behind this was not to fight the lumps that like to spring up when wet forming but to encourage them and use them in the design. The two little ridges that I formed stop the torch or pen from dropping out of their tubes (although they're a good fit anyway!).

Making a Spoon Knife from an old car spring.

Safety first - do not take my working methods as safe practice - I cannot be held responsible for your accidents!Making a special spoon bowl carving tool from an old car spring using blacksmithing and tool making techniques. In this film I show you how to make a very useful and effective spoon bowl hollowing knife, that can also be used for rounding off the bottom of pole lathed wooden bowls and plates. I have used an old car spring as the source of good tool steel for this project, and in the film I take you through the blacksmithing techniques, and the tool hardening and tempering using a gas torch. Finally I give a short demonstration of the tool in use, so that you can see how effective it is. I hope you enjoy this film that was shot on location in a woodland, and back at my workshop.

Etching Damascus knife blades

For this webisode we are etching 3 damascus knife blades and 4 clips. These are made from Swedish Damasteel, a very high quality steel that I really enjoy working with. The video shows the process we used to mask off the important areas, what acids we used, and how we did it. We started out using Ferric Chloride, but for this steel I didn't like it at all. We've used Muriatic Acid in the past with great results, but we settled on using Sulfuric Acid, aka battery acid. 14:36 has the best shot of the finished blades, they look incredible!

Making a Damascus Steel Chef s Knife

In this video, bladesmith Walter Sorrells demonstrates the forging of a chef's knife. The making of the knife blade involves the complex forging of a modified ladder pattern damascus steel which is then laminated in "san-mai" fashion to produce a blade with a complex pattern-welded surface and a hard mono-steel steel edge. The video also shows the making of the wooden handle. For more knife making videos go to www.waltersorrellsblades.com.
