BEEF RENDANG

This beef rendang recipe is a semi-homemade dish, meaning we're going to use a ready made sauce fot this. Beef rendang is a dry Indonesian curry that is spicy but tastes so yummy.INGREDIENTS:1 KILO BEEF, CUBED 2 PACKETS READY MADE RENDANG SAUCE (1 packet per 500 grams beef) 1 cup coconut milk 1 knorr chicken cube salt or patis to taste (optional) a little cooking oilIF YOU WANT TO MAKE YOUR OWN RENDANG SAUCE:blend together in a food processor until it forms a thick paste 38 lb shallots 3 cloves garlic 15 dried red chili peppers 5 slices fresh ginger 5 stalks lemongrass, choppedgrind together 2 teaspoons coriander seeds 2 teaspoons fennel seeds 2 teaspoons cumin seeds a pinch of nutmeg2 cups shredded coconut 5 whole cloves 1 cinnamon stickfry paste in a little oil, add ground spices, cook for 3 to 4 minutes, use in place of ready made rendang sauce, after sauteeing the beef and sauce, add shredded coconut, whole cloves and cinnamon stick, add water and simmer until beef is tender. add coconut milk (use at least 1 12 cups coconut milk)(this is the reason why I buy ready made rendang sauce, it's too laborious to make and needs an awful lot of ingredients) :(
