BEEF PARES is a popular dish served in restaurants or speacialty eateries in the Philippines. It is usually served with either fried or steamed rice, and a clear beef broth, or used as topping for mami (noodle soup) similar to the Chowking version.INGREDIENTS: 1 kilo (2.2 lbs) beef brisket (pecho), cut into 1 - 1 12 inch cubes, you may trim off excess fat, or use a lean beef instead. 13 cup soy sauce 13 cup firmly packed brown sugar about a thumb size ginger, minced finely 2 to 3 pieces bay leaves (laurel) 2 to 3 pieces whole star anise (sangke) 1 Knorr beef cube 1 tablespoon corn startch mixed with a little water water chopped green onions (garnish) salt and pepper to taste
