Each of the seven lines of Ana B'Koach corresponds to one of the lower sefirot on the Etz Chayyim, the Tree of Life. Each of the six words in each of the seven lines, in turn, also correspond to a sefirah [sphere]. This video highlights the various permutations. In the first recitation, the words are spoken in pairs, using each line for a full inhalation and exhalation. The second version uses the song that came in a dream to one of Rabbi Hoffman's students years ago. The call and response pattern of singing it has developed in our davening over the last 15 years. In the first, the permutations are rapid, in the second, much slower. During the seven weeks of the Sefirat ha Omer, we spend a full week on each sefira, with each weekday corresponding to a permutation, so they each take a whole day. An example of this would be: "Today is the 3rd day of the 5th week, or Tiferet of Hod.

Invocation of the Protective Angels.

This is part of the bedtime Shema, the prayers and meditations before sleep, found in the Siddur after the evening service, Maariv. One of the most ancient names of G-d is "El" - and we see that name in the names of the angels. The first angel is Michael - "mi"="who" - "C"="like" [is] like G-D - right side The second angel is Gavriel - the Gevurah, power of G-d - left side The third angel is Uriel - the Or - light of G-d - in front The fourth angel is Rafael - healed by G-d - following The fifth angel is Shekhinat El - the Shekhina - feminine presence of G-d - above the head. The breathing sounds are reminders to take deep, full breaths as you do the meditation, through the nose, holding slightly as feels comfortable. This meditation brings great protection and comfort, and can be used as a mantra anywhere, anytime.

72 Names of God pronounced

CHECK OUT our new online prayerbook! [ http:torahjudaism.orgsiddur.pdf ]This video is about the Kabbalistic tradition of the 72 "names". Each "name" is sounded out twice together with the Hebrew and a transliteration in English letters. Very useful for learning to read Hebrew. The Rambam (Maimonides) taught: "You must beware of sharing the error of those who write amulets (kameot). Whatever you hear from them, or read in their works, especially in reference to [God's] names which they form by combination, is utterly senseless; they call these combinations shemot (names) and believe that their pronunciation demands sanctification and purification, and that by using them they are enabled to work miracles. Rational persons ought not to listen to such men, nor in any way believe their assertions." (Guide for the Perplexed, Book I, Chap. LXI)
